A founder's letter

Built by someone who needs it too.

Leiko is the work of Law — an engineer building from Africa for the world, who has hypertension himself, and who built the watch he couldn't find for his own wrist.

Hypertension runs in my family the way other families pass down a surname. My grandfather had it. My father had it. So do the uncles and cousins around me. I grew up watching the cuff come out, the medications rotate, and the quiet arithmetic of which ones we could afford that month.

I lost my father years ago. Our family has gathered for that same grief more than once since — the most recent time, only weeks ago. In a family like mine, you learn early that a blood-pressure reading is never just a number.

A few years into my thirties, a doctor told me what I'd half-expected: I have it too. What I learned next is the part nobody tells you — bringing your numbers down isn't a pill, it's a whole life. It's the sleep you actually get. The oxygen you hold through the night — I watch mine, because I have sleep apnea. Your resting heart rate. The walking that burns what needs burning. Blood pressure is the headline, but it's written by everything underneath it. And you cannot change what you can't honestly see.

So I went looking for something I could trust to show me. I bought the smartwatches — the clean dashboards, the reassuring marketing. I bought the rings, too. Every one of them guessed: they estimated blood pressure optically, the way you'd guess a fever with the back of your hand, and dressed the guesswork up as data. The numbers wandered. And the devices that were genuinely accurate were clinical objects I'd never want to wear every day. The thing I needed — a real, certified clinical-method watch I'd actually keep on my wrist, reading the whole picture and not one estimated number — didn't exist.

So I built it. A real inflating micro-cuff for blood pressure — the actual oscillometric method, fully certified, not an optical guess — and alongside it the four vitals that explain the number: sleep, overnight oxygen, resting heart rate, and the movement that brings it all down. Actuals, not estimates. I built it for my own body first. Then the longer I wore it, the more obvious the rest became: the people I love carry the same risk I do. My mother. The family near me, and the family an ocean away.

If you found this page, you probably understand this in a way that goes past features and specs. Maybe you have a parent you quietly worry about. Maybe you've been handed your own diagnosis and decided to manage it carefully instead of fearing it. Maybe you care for others for a living, and you need something honest to go on. Leiko is for you — and it was built by someone who is you.

One number. Everything that writes it.

Blood pressure is the headline. Leiko reads the four vitals underneath it too — so you can change a whole lifestyle, gradually, and watch it work.

Blood pressure

Real micro-cuff. The certified clinical method — not an optical guess.

Sleep

The nights that explain your mornings.

Overnight oxygen

Tracked while you sleep — the signal apnea hides in.

Resting heart rate

Your steady baseline, and when it drifts.

Movement & calories

The walking and burning that bring the numbers down.
